It is with great sadness that we report the passing of a dear friend.

Yves secured his PhD in medicine at the famous Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI) in 1979.  Following this he had medical and perfusion-related experience in many prestigious French hospitals.

He conducted pioneering technical advances in pediatric cardiac surgery, in cardio-respiratory management and for improved management of several types of complications. His innovative ideas were also pivotal in the development of normo-thermic techniques for complex cardiac procedures. During his career, he was involved in several international charity missions.

Yves DurandyHis life ended the 6th October, from complications arising from a previously treated cancer. Consistent with his pioneering spirit, he had elected to join CardioStart International’s pediatric mission to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He was eager to go, and was due to join the team on 4th December.  Sadly, he was unable to join us on this last mission, though he was greatly missed. He is survived by his loving partner, a nurse who had worked with him for 30 years.

We send all the best wishes to his family and friends during these difficult times.
