Dr. Harper a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician specializing in practice in remote and austere locations. Current practice locations Cordova Community Hospital, Cordova, Alaska USA and Curry County General Hospital Gold Beach Oregon USA.
Retired Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, Oregon Health and Sciences University and Chief of Emergency Medicine Portland Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, Portland, Oregon USA.
Many years as a volunteer for the American Heart Association. This includes 8 years on the National Education Subcommittee. He is currently active as an instructor and Course Director of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and ACLS for Experienced Providers as well as Basic Life Support. He is also an instructor of Advanced Trauma Life Support for the American College of Surgeons.
He has served on the Board of CardioStart International since 2013, as a director for the Resuscitation Group (an educational institution) and as a director For the Global Emergency Medical Registry.
Richard has focused on providing international education in many countries including India, Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Tanzania and Peru.
His past assignments as an Emergency Physician have included four tenures providing care at the USA’s National Science Foundation’s Antarctic Research Stations for a total duration of three years.
