Mike Gelskey was seventeen when he went to work in a sling fabrication shop. Seven years later he secured private funding and founded Lift-It® Manufacturing Co., Inc.
Lift-It® has become an industry leader in the manufacture and supply of quality rigging, tools and safety equipment.
Mr. Gelskey has authored numerous articles for national and international publications. He was the President and a Director of the Web Sling and Tie Down Association and now serves as the Legal Resource Committee Chairman and is a
member of the Web Sling and Roundsling committees. He is a member of the ASME B30.9 Sling Subcommittee as well as the Technical Committee for the Associated Wire Rope Fabricators.
Long before sling safety training was “popular” Mike presented sling training at his own expense, to anyone who would listen. With 44 years of experience in the design and fabrication of synthetic lifting products, he has presented sling user and inspection training for 36 years to numerous corporate clients, organizations and associations. Many clients request additional training, speaking volumes about the worthwhile nature of his presentations.
Mr. Gelskey is passionate about his message which goes far beyond traditional sling use and inspection. His energy is contagious and inspires a quest for excellence that does not allow for compromise. His ultimate goal is to modify behavior, creating an aversion to risk and a decision process that results in the selection of safe and proper practices.

Mike has been a strong supporter of CardioStart’s outreach efforts, including mission work in Ecuador, Zambia, Tanzania, the Dominican Republic, and Peru. He has also shown consistent support for orphanage-related work.
